Unconditional, a Poem

Willing to
experience aloneness,
I discover connection everywhere;
Turning to face my fear,
I meet the warrior
who lives within;
Opening to my loss,
I gain the embrace of the
the Universe;
Surrendering into
emptiness,
I find fullness
without end.
Each condition I flee from
pursues me,
Each condition I welcome
transforms me...
~Jennifer Welwood

This poem has been on my fridge for about 13 years. I found it in my (Sagittarius) weekly horoscope by Rob Brezney of Freewill Astrology. At the time, I was in a terribly boring job at a software company south of Market, so I looked forward to reading Rob's astute horoscopes in SF Weekly on my much longed for breaks (I do remember the one good thing about that job was I brought my white German shepherd, Lotte, to work with me every day. We would walk across the street to South Park and hang out on my breaks...).

Anyway, I'm sure you can see why I keep this on my fridge. I thought it would be a nice poem to start the New Year with.

Every New Year's I make a point of being in nature, usually in Lake Tahoe (picture of Roman and Tikka above was taken last New Year's day). This year, I'm in the city and, for some reason (cough) woke up after 2pm. So, an old pic and a poem will have to do for now.

Oh, and my resolutions? Still working on last year's :/
